Season Overview
The 1999-2000 season was a memorable one for Real Madrid, culminating in their eighth European Cup triumph. The club faced fellow Spanish side Valencia in the first-ever Champions League final to feature two teams from the same country, winning the match 3-0 at the Stade de France in Paris. In domestic competition, the team finished 5th in La Liga and reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. The club also participated in the inaugural FIFA Club World Championship, finishing in fourth place.
Key Players
Vicente del Bosque took over as manager from John Toshack early in the season, leading the team to European glory. The squad was a mix of established veterans and emerging talent, featuring club icons such as Raúl, Fernando Hierro, and Roberto Carlos. Key Spanish players included Míchel Salgado, Guti, and a young Iker Casillas, who was establishing himself in goal.
