Under new manager Morten Olsen, the 1997-98 season was a resounding success for Ajax, as they secured the Eredivisie title by a remarkable 17 points over rivals PSV. They also completed a domestic double by thrashing PSV 5-0 in the KNVB Cup final. The team also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.
Key Players
The squad was filled with legendary talent, including the de Boer twins, Frank and Ronald, and the veteran captain Danny Blind. Edwin van der Sar was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, while Jari Litmanen and Michael Laudrup provided the creative spark, and Shota Arveladze led the line as top scorer.
