Season Overview

The 1997-98 season was a challenging one for CD Tenerife in La Liga. The club ultimately finished in 16th place, narrowly avoiding the relegation play-offs. Their final league record consisted of 11 wins, 12 draws, and 15 losses. In the Copa del Rey, their campaign was short-lived as they were knocked out in the second round. This season followed their memorable run to the UEFA Cup semi-finals in the previous 1996-97 campaign.

Key Players

The club had a turbulent season managerially, with Víctor Fernández, Artur Jorge, and Juanma Lillo all taking charge at different points. The squad featured notable players such as Serbian midfielder Slaviša Jokanović and forward Juanele. Dutch striker Roy Makaay was a key figure in attack, alongside Bosnian forward Meho Kodro.
