Season Overview

The 1987-88 season marked Celtic's centenary, a memorable campaign under manager Billy McNeill. The club secured a historic league and cup double, winning the Scottish Premier Division and the Scottish Cup. In the 1988-89 season, Celtic, still managed by Billy McNeill, finished third in the Scottish Premier Division and successfully retained the Scottish Cup.

Key Players

Key players during this period included prolific forward Andy Walker, influential midfielder Billy Stark, and dynamic full-back Chris Morris. Frank McAvennie also made significant contributions, particularly in the centenary double-winning season. Midfield maestro Paul McStay was a consistent presence for the Glasgow giants.
