Season Overview
The 1992 season was a triumphant one for Flamengo, as they clinched their fifth Campeonato Brasileiro Série A title. Under the management of Carlinhos, Flamengo overcame rivals Botafogo in the final, securing a dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg and a 2-2 draw in the second, leading to a 5-2 aggregate win. In the initial stage of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, which featured 20 teams, Flamengo finished in fourth place. The club also competed in the 1992 Supercopa Libertadores, reaching the semifinals where they were ultimately eliminated by Racing after a 3-3 aggregate score, losing in a penalty shootout.
Key Players
The squad was notably led by the experienced Júnior, who, at 38 years old, served as captain and scored crucial goals in both legs of the Campeonato Brasileiro final. Other prominent players during this successful campaign included Nélio, Gaúcho, Júlio César, Piá, Fabinho, Zinho, Júnior Baiano, Gilmar, Wilson Gottardo, Paulo Nunes, and Uidemar.
