Season Overview
In the 1972 season, Fluminense competed in both the Campeonato Carioca and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Under manager Paulo Amaral, the club finished as runners-up in the Campeonato Carioca, securing the Taça Fadel Fadel as champions of the second round of the state championship. Fluminense also participated in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, which was ultimately won by Palmeiras. This vintage football shirt represents a classic era for the Tricolor.

The squad featured notable talents such as the experienced playmaker Gérson, who was a significant figure for the club during this period. Other key players included Marco Antônio, a prominent left-back, and striker Lula, who was among the top scorers in the Campeonato Carioca. Defenders Ari Ercílio and Assis were also part of the team.
