Season Overview
The 2002-04 period saw France compete in major international tournaments. At the 2002 FIFA World Cup, as defending champions, France exited in the group stage, failing to secure a win or score a goal. Roger Lemerre was replaced by Jacques Santini as manager after the World Cup. Under Santini, France won the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup. They then reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2004, where they were eliminated by Greece.
