Season Overview
The 2012-13 season marked a historic moment for Manchester United as they secured their 20th English top-flight title. The club finished 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League, clinching the championship with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in April. In other competitions, the team reached the sixth round of the FA Cup and the fourth round of the League Cup. The European campaign saw them exit the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 stage after a narrow aggregate defeat to Real Madrid.
Key Players
This was the final season for legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired after more than 26 years at the club. The squad's top scorer was Robin van Persie, who won the Premier League's Golden Boot with 26 goals in his debut season. Other key figures in the title-winning side included Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, and Michael Carrick.
