Season Overview

The 2000-2001 season was a triumphant one for Orlando Pirates, as they won the South African Premiership, then known as the Castle Premiership. Under the management of Gordon Igesund, the club secured the league title. In the subsequent 2001-2002 season, Orlando Pirates finished in 3rd place in the Betway Premiership, with Jean-Yves Kerjean as manager.

Key Players

During the 2000-2002 period, Orlando Pirates featured several notable players. Goalkeeper Willy Okpara was a consistent presence in the squad. Defenders Thabang Radebe, Innocent Chikoya, Papi Khomane, and Willem Jackson were also key members of the team. Midfielder Benedict Vilakazi, who would go on to become the club's all-time top scorer, was emerging as a significant talent, alongside striker Lesley Manyathela.
