Description

Season Overview

Pumas UNAM competed in the Liga MX during 2006. In the Clausura 2006 tournament, managed by Miguel España and later Guillermo Vázquez, the team finished 10th in the general table and did not qualify for the Liguilla. For the Apertura 2006, Ricardo Ferretti took over as manager, leading Pumas to a 1st place finish in the general table before their elimination in the quarterfinals.

Key Players

Key contributors during 2006 included José Luis López, who was a top scorer in both tournaments, and Bruno Marioni in the Clausura. Under manager Ricardo Ferretti in the Apertura, Ignacio Scocco and Ariel González were significant goal scorers. Midfielders Leandro Augusto and Israel Castro were also important figures for the squad.
