Season Overview
São Paulo FC experienced a period of mixed fortunes across the 2000 and 2001 seasons. In 2000, under manager Levir Culpi, the club clinched the Campeonato Paulista title and reached the Copa do Brasil final. The 2001 season saw a change in management with Vadão and later Nelsinho Baptista, and the club secured its first Torneio Rio-São Paulo title. São Paulo also reached the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Brasileiro and Copa do Brasil in 2001, and were runners-up in the Copa dos Campeões.
Key Players
The squad during this era featured prominent figures such as legendary goalkeeper Rogério Ceni and prolific forward França, who was the top goalscorer in both the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Other notable players included Belletti, Fábio Simplício, and the emerging talents of Kaká and Luís Fabiano. Felipe was also part of the São Paulo squad during this period, wearing the number 9 jersey.
