Season Overview

The 1999 season was a strong year for Shimizu S-Pulse, who finished as runners-up in the J.League Division 1 under manager Steve Perryman. The club also reached the quarterfinals of both the Emperor's Cup and the J.League Cup. Shimizu S-Pulse notably won the J. League Division 1 2nd Stage during this period.

Key Players

The squad featured several prominent players, including Yoshikiyo Kuboyama, who wore the number 15. Other key players from this era included Masaaki Sawanobori, Alex (Alessandro Santos), Ryuzo Morioka, and Toshihide Saito. Alex was recognized as the J.League Player of the Year, while Steve Perryman received the Coach of the Year award.
