Season Overview

The 2002 season was a memorable one for Vålerenga, as they secured their third Norwegian Football Cup title. The club finished 8th in the Tippeligaen, Norway's top division, that year. Vålerenga defeated Odd Grenland in the cup final, which was held on November 3, 2002, at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo. This victory earned them qualification for the 2003–04 UEFA Cup. Kjetil Rekdal served as the player-coach for Vålerenga during this successful campaign.
