Season Overview
The 1998-1999 season saw Vélez Sarsfield compete in the Argentine Primera División, following their triumph in the Clausura 1998 tournament under manager Marcelo Bielsa. Bielsa departed to manage the Argentina national team, with Julio César Falcioni taking charge for the Apertura 1998, where the club finished in fourth place. Osvaldo Piazza then managed the team for the Clausura 1999. Vélez Sarsfield also participated in continental competitions, including the Copa Mercosur 1998 and the Copa Libertadores 1999.
Key Players
The squad featured iconic goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert, alongside influential midfielders Christian Bassedas and Claudio Husaín. Attackers Fernando Pandolfi and Patricio Camps were also key figures for the club during this period. This vintage football shirt represents a memorable era for the club.
