Season Overview
The 2020-21 season for the German national team was centered around the delayed UEFA Euro 2020 and the UEFA Nations League. In the Nations League, Germany competed in Group A4, finishing second behind Spain. A notable result in this campaign was a heavy 6-0 defeat to Spain in the final group match. At Euro 2020, Germany was drawn in a difficult Group F with France, Portugal, and Hungary. They advanced to the round of 16 where they were eliminated by England at Wembley Stadium.
Key Players
The squad during this period was managed by Joachim Löw, in what was his final tournament after a 15-year tenure. Key players included the experienced Manuel Neuer as captain, along with Toni Kroos, and the recalled Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels. Younger talents such as Kai Havertz, Joshua Kimmich, and Serge Gnabry were also integral parts of the team.
