Season Overview
The 1998-99 season for the Spain national football team saw them begin their UEFA Euro 2000 qualifying campaign following their participation in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where they exited in the group stage. Spain competed in Group 6 of the Euro 2000 qualifiers, ultimately winning the group to secure their place in the final tournament. Javier Clemente was the coach at the start of the season, with José Antonio Camacho taking over later in 1998.

The squad during this period featured prominent players such as captain Fernando Hierro, the prolific Raúl, Luis Enrique, Fernando Morientes, and Gaizka Mendieta. Other notable players included Andoni Zubizarreta and Alfonso Pérez.
